The Checkpoint Game

Hello everyone!

Today the club focused on checkpoints around Palestine. Nadine informed us of her experiences at the checkpoints and explained the process of having to wait hours to be let through. She showed us some images from Qalandia and Rachel checkpoints and explained to us the difference in the green and blue identity cards. It gave us a real insight of the harsh reality of Palestinian civilian life and the daily difficulties they face. The group then went on to play the "Checkpoint game" where each player has to choose two cards, on one card it will state whether you have a blue ID or a green ID and this will determine whether you can go through the certain checkpoint you want to go to.

Ryan - I learned a lot about how the checkpoints operate in the region. Before I was unaware of how bad checkpoints were.

Saoirse - It was very interesting to learn about which ID allows different people to do certain things. It was surprising to find out how restricted some people's lives are, especially people with green IDs.
